At lunch today my friend Ana told me about a song called “Praan” by Gary Schyman. The song is used in one of the videos from the “Where the Hell is Matt” video series. The lyrics are from the poem The Stream of Life by the Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore. Below, you’ll find the video for where the song is used, but before you check it out, I leave with the English translation of the poem used for the song. Enjoy.

Stream of Life
by Rabindranath Tagore
The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day
runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.
It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth
in numberless blades of grass
and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.
It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth
and of death, in ebb and in flow.
I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.

Wow, I can’t believe how quickly this year has gone by. It seems like yesterday that I was celebrating New Years and now Christmas is only 2 weeks away.
Speaking of holidays, this past Thanksgiving reminded me of how much I have to be grateful for. I have been blessed with awesome and patient friends, supportive family, good health, all of my basic necessities and then some, and a job that helps me pay bills and provides me with many opportunities to learn about myself. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
In addition to being grateful for my blessings, I have also made the following 3 realizations about building friendship with men:
The three realizations above seem so simple, yet it’s amazing how many women I meet who never take the time to consider any of them, especially # 2 and #3 - and I have been guilty of this before myself. After applying the three realizations above, I find that I have so much more clarity and my friendships are full of depth while being light and fun.
On that note, I will leave you with the words of one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite Disney movies, “Rodgers And Hammerstein’s Cinderella”. This song was sang by both Cinderella and the Prince while they danced the night away. Enjoy and Happy Holidays.

Do I love you because you’re beautiful,
or are you beautiful because I love you?
Am I making believe I see in you
a girl too lovely to be really true?
Do I want you because you’re wonderful,
or are you wonderful because I want you?
Are you the sweet invention of a lover’s dream
or are you really as beautiful as you seem?
Am I making believe I see in you
a man too perfect to be really true?
Do I want you because you’re wonderful,
or are you wonderful because I want you?
Are you the sweet invention of a lover’s dream
or are you really as wonderful as you seem?

Since I last posted, quite a bit has happened in my life. For one, I lived to see the first African-American man be elected as the 44th President of the Unites States of America. Witnessing President Barack Obama give the acceptance speech was one of the proudest moment of my life. I felt as if I were watching my own son. I’m sure the next 4 years are going to be challenging, but I have faith that he can and will move this country in a positive direction.
On the same day as election day, I also recieved my Gohonzon, an object of devotion in Nicherin Buddhism. I was introduced to this form of Buddhism by my friend Ricardo weeks prior and haven’t turned back since. As time goes by, I will share more about what I’m learning. In the meantime, you can click here to learn more.
Last but not least, I’ll leave you with the lyrics to one of my favorite songs from the early ’90s. These words describe some of what I’ve been experiencing lately. Until next time…

Save the Best for Last
sung by Vanessa Williams
——————–
Sometimes the snow comes down in June
Sometimes the sun goes round the moon
I see the passion in your eyes
Sometimes it’s all a big surprise
’cause there was a time when all I did was wish
You’d tell me this was love
Its not the way I hoped or how I planned
But somehow it’s enough
And now we’re standing face to face
Isn’t this world a crazy place
Just when I thought our chance had passed
You go and save the best for last
All of the nights you came to me
When some silly girl had set you free
You wondered how you’d make it through
I wondered what was wrong with you
’cause how could you give your love to someone else
And share your dreams with me
Sometimes the very thing you’re looking for
Is the one thing you can’t see
But now we’re standing face to face
Isn’t this world a crazy place
Just when I thought our chance had passed
You go and save the best for last
Sometimes the very thing you’re looking for
Is the one thing you can’t see
Sometimes the snow comes down in June
Sometimes the sun goes round the moon
Just when I thought our chance had passed
You go and save the best for last
You went and saved the best for last
My buddy Ricardo sent this to me last week and it’s hilarious! Enjoy.:)
In the past month since I last posted, I have been following the presidential debates from a distance and have also been dealing with some family health issues. My mom was sent to the hospital a bunch of times for feeding tube malfunction and my sister got into a car accident the day she arrived into town. The scare was worse when the doctors diagnosed her with having a bunch of aneurysms as a result of her head cracking the window of the car she was in. To add to the drama, it turns out that the woman who hit the car she was in had just hit another car prior to that and was trying to leave the scene. And to top it off, the woman had no insurance or tag.
Anyways, I also had my own health scare a few weeks ago. I was at work when I started experiencing chest pains on my left side. I jokingly told my coworkers that I thought I was having a heart attack and they all bust out laughing and soon I joined them. However, the next day the pain was still there. Then the following morning at 5:30am, I woke up sweating and having a hard time breathing. I knocked on my brothers bedroom door to tell him and he quickly rushed me to the ER .
As soon as I mentioned chest pain, the ER staff did not delay to rush me to the doctor. They drew a lot of blood and injected me with this iodine thing that made me feel like I peed myself. Then they did a CT scan to make sure I didn’t have some type of clot. After what felt like hours of waiting, the doctor finally came in to tell me that they found nothing. He gave me a prescription for pain killers and had me take one with some crackers and apple juice. I burped, felt better and it all suddenly made perfect sense. I had bad gas.
As for my weight loss efforts, I have lost about 20 pounds since I last wrote about wanting to lose weight. Most of my success is due to me incorporating more raw foods into my diet and getting more physically active. Eventually, I will write more details on how I was able to achieve this. It hasn’t been a walk in the park and I did reach a plateau as a result of straying off the wellness path. Good news is that I have been able to maintain my weight and am now ready to pick up where I left off. My goal is to lose the remainder 20 pounds by December 31, 2008.
Well, that’s all for now. Be safe. ![]()
I know I haven’t been posting much lately. Until I figure out what direction I want to take this site, I will keep things light and post mainly videos and such. With that said, someone sent the link to this video to me and I thought it was awesome. Yes, it is political, but it’s all good. If you’re not an Obama supporter, you may not appreciate the humor in this. Nonetheless, much props to the person who created it. Enjoy.
